Travel 3 months, 2 weeks agoStarting Summer 2026, The Cleetwood Cove Trail—The Only Legal Access To Crater Lake, The Deepest Lake In The U.S.—Will Close For Major Renovations, Possibly Reopening In 2029. Improvements Include Trail Rebuilding, Dock Replacement, & Rockfall Mitigation. Until Then, No Swimming Or Boat Tours; Visitors Can Only Admire The Lake From Above.
This summer will be the last chance to swim or take a boat tour in the waters of Crater Lake for an extended period.
