Discovery 6 years, 9 months ago28 New Viruses, For The Past 15,000 Years, Were Hosted In The Tibetan Glacier. These Discovered Viruses, From Two Ice Cores, Could Inform Researchers On What Viruses Thrived Under Different Climates And Environments Over Time. However, The Discovery Is Troubling Because These Viruses Could Escape Into The Environment Via Global Warming.

Other 7 years, 1 month agoDamn, Another Missed Asteroid, 2019 MO, Smashes Over The Caribbean. The Thought Of Agencies Like NASA Or European Space Agency (ESA) Missing Some Near-Earth Objects Is Scary. And This’s Why I’m So Glad That Bodies Like NASA Continue To Fund Institutions To Keep A Closer Eye On The Sky To Warn/Avoid Situations Like This.

Other 7 years, 1 month agoWith Dangerous Undetected Asteroids, Like “2019 Ok,” Coming Close To Earth, It’s A Breath Of Relief That NASA Continues To Award Funds, Like $19M, To Observatories Like The Iconic Arecibo Observatory, In Puerto Rico, To Watch Out For Near-Earth Objects, Especially Asteroids Within 5 Million Miles (8 million km) Of Earth’s Orbit.

Discovery 7 years, 2 months agoThe New Indication That A 9-By-12 Mile Meteor Impacted Mars, ~3 Bya, Giving Rise To A Thousand-Foot Tsunami, Which Created The Strange Landforms On Mars, Supports The Theory That Mars Did Have Surface Ocean. The Meteor Is Said To Have Formed The 75-Mile-Wide Lomonosov Crater In The Martian Northern Lowlands.

Other 7 years, 3 months agoAn Asteroid, Dubbed “2019 Ok,” ~426 Feet Long, And Traveling At A Speed Of 55,000 MPH Came Closer To Earth (~45, 000 Miles Away) Than Our Moon, On July 25th, 2019. And Guess What? No Body Caught It! This A Big Deal Because The Asteroid Could Have Wiped-Out A Whole City If It Had Impacted Earth. Makes You Wonder About Our Space Surveillance System? Phew!

Discovery 7 years, 7 months agoThe European Mars Express, Based On The First Geologic Evidence, May Have Identified Mars, 3-4Bya, As A Watery World, With Ancient Ocean Connected To Systems Of Underground Lakes That Spread Across The Entire Planet. The Evidence, Identified In The Northern Hemisphere, Includes Fan Shaped Sediment Deposits, And Crater Walls Channels Etc.

Other 7 years, 8 months agoNASA Has Ended The Opportunity Rover Mission After It Failed To Respond Since June 2018, After A Severe Dust Storm. The Rover, Which Was Meant To Travel Less Than A Mile And Last 90 Martian days, Lasted For 15 Years, Making It The Longest Lasting Rover On Mars. It Sent Over 217,000 Images, And Discovered Signs Of Water On Mars.

Discovery 7 years, 8 months agoThe Little Ice Age, A Marked Cooling Period Btw 1500s-1600s, Is Now Speculated To Have Been Caused By Genocide Committed By The Migrating Europeans On The Native Americans. The Genocide Meant That More Farmlands Remained Uncultivated, Which Later Become Forested. The Forest Then Sucked Out The CO2 From Air, Resulting In Cooling. Wow!

Discovery 7 years, 9 months agoA New Study, Though Contentious, Is Indicating That The Missing Link Between Early Humans And Ape-like Ancestors May Have Been Discovered In 2008 In A Cavern In Malapa, South Africa . The 2 Million-Year-Old Fossil, Australopithecus Sediba, Is Said To Bridge The Gap Between Ape-like Australopithecus Africanus And Homo Habilis.

Discovery 7 years, 9 months agoUsing The Moon As A Proxy, Scientists Are Speculating A 2.6 Times Increase In The Rate Of Asteroid Impact On Earth Since The End of The Paleozoic (About 290 MYA). They Speculate That We Don’t See The Signs Of The Asteroid Impact on Earth Due To Erosion, Geologic Processes, And Probably Atmospheric Burn.
